Michigan Casino Expansions I’m sure most of you know about the new Odawa Casino in Petoskey (Northern Michigan). The Saganing Eagle’s Landing Casino opened New Year’s Eve in Standish, Michigan (30 miles N of Bay City, Michigan). The 32,000 square-foot facility is a medium sized casino with more than 700 slot machines and 40 electronic table games Turtle Creek – Williamsburg, Michigan (4 miles East of Traverse City) This $80 million expansion is scheduled to open by June, 2008. Greektown Casino in Detroit, Michigan has a $200 million expansion that is expected to be completed by the Fall of 2008. It will be adding a parking garage to speed up valet parking, 400 hotel rooms and expanding its gaming space by 25,000 sq. ft. There is a $350 million expansion to the Casino Windsor (Canada) where it is being upgraded to become Caesars Windsor. The facility upgrade will also add 400 hotel rooms – it is expected to be completed in 2008. Firekeepers Casino is scheduled to open in mid-2009; it will be located near Battle Creek, Michigan. The $270 million casino will be a 230,000 sq. ft. complex that will have 2,500 slot machines and 110 game tables. Muskegon, Michigan is still negotiating with 3 different groups to construct a casino in the downtown area.
