Michigan Casino Expansions

I’m sure most of you know about the new Odawa Casino in Petoskey (Northern  Michigan).  It opened in June of 2007 - it replaced the former Victories Casino.  The Odawa Casino has over 300,000 square feet of hotel, restaurants, bars and gaming space.  They have 1500 slot machines, 36 game tables plus a poker room.

The Saganing Eagle’s Landing Casino opened New Year’s Eve in Standish, Michigan (30 miles N of Bay City, Michigan).   The 32,000 square-foot facility is a medium sized casino with more than 700 slot machines and 40 electronic table games

Turtle Creek – Williamsburg, Michigan (4 miles East of Traverse City)  This $80 million expansion is scheduled to open by June, 2008.  This Northern Michigan casino will have 350,000 sq. ft. and will replace the existing 68,000 sq. ft. casino.  There will be 137 hotel rooms, 1500 slot machines, game tables and a new poker room with 10 tables.

Greektown Casino in Detroit, Michigan has a $200 million expansion that is expected to be completed by the Fall of 2008.  It will be adding a parking garage to speed up valet parking, 400 hotel rooms and expanding its gaming space by 25,000 sq. ft.

There is a $350 million expansion to the Casino Windsor (Canada) where it is being upgraded to become Caesars Windsor.  The facility upgrade will also add 400 hotel rooms – it is expected to be completed in 2008.

Firekeepers Casino is scheduled to open in mid-2009; it will be located near Battle Creek, Michigan.  The $270 million casino will be a  230,000 sq. ft. complex that will have 2,500 slot machines and 110 game tables.

Muskegon, Michigan is still negotiating with 3 different groups to construct a casino in the downtown area.  The casino was originally approved in 1993 – so don’t hold your breath on this one :)
